York
Few cities in England are as magical and charming as York.

Stratford upon Avon is inescapably linked to William Shakespeare - the world's most famous poet. He was born here, and after spending most of his life in London, retired here.

A good way to see the city is to follow the Shakespeare trail. You can use a mixture of walking and taking the bus. It takes about two hours. The tourist bus is a convenient way to get around and the ticket enables you to get on and off at will. You can just catch the next bus
when you're ready.

Two places well worth checking out are the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the Holy Trinity church. The Royal Shakesepeare theatre was built
in 1932. There are three theatres in the complex and one of these runs the Skakespeare productions. Tickets for the classics are often very hard to get hold of.

The Holy Trinity Church is where Shakespeare was buried. Shakespeare's grave is marked by a simple engraved stone in front of the church's alter.

Located close by is Halls Croft. It's a massive Tudor house - the one where Shakespeare's daughter Susannah used to live.

Anne Hathaway's cottage is about one mile outside Stratford. This is where he was thought to have courted his future bride. You can get
there on the tourist bus.
